So, Obama won, which I guess means change.  But, I have to wonder.  The vote for prop 8 in California, of all places, leaves me doubting.  On the other hand, there are rumors that various churches stepped out of their legal authority and engaged in massive phone bank operations and the like to get out the vote for prop 8.  You can do an amazing amount of fear mongering by convincing people their kids will end up gay if a gay couple moves in next door.

I think it is fine that churches do these sorts of phone bank operations and openly support candidates.  However, donors to such churches should have to pay taxes on the money they donate.  Their donations are purchasing a commodity at that point, not supporting a church that helps people.  So, drop the 501 c(3) designation folks and go to town!
